Doneness
Coating is uniformly golden-brown with crisp edges; the onion interior is softened and translucent when one ring is bitten open.
Oil & seasoning
Optional light spray for extra crispness — bag rings are pre-oiled but a spritz lifts the colour.
Season with: salt (immediately after cooking, while still hot), smoked paprika dust (optional).
Watch out for
- Single layer only — stacked rings steam each other and the bottom layer never crisps.
- Do not thaw — frozen-to-air-fryer is the design path. Thawed rings shed their coating in the basket.
- Shake or flip once at the halfway mark — without it, the underside (basket-contact side) stays pale while the top browns.
